You are now a member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Canada’s largest veterans’ organization with more than 500,000 members in approximately 1,660 branches. This booklet does not attempt to explain all Legion programs, but is intended to provide a brief overview of the organization. Founded in 1925 to meet the needs of all who served in the armed forces and their dependents, the Legion has grown over the years to become Canada’s largest service organization providing support to veterans and communities across the country. One of the primary objectives of the Legion is to encourage, promote, support and participate in all forms of municipal, community and national service.
